We inspire and empower young people from cities to explore meaningful careers in regional and rural Australia. We provide them with opportunities to dream big, explore and create a bright future for themselves and our nation through real-life experiences and education and industry connections.
We achieve this through the three Ts: Tell, Tour and Try.

Tell: Information Sessions
We visit city high schools, youth organisations, sports clubs and careers expos to showcase the diverse career opportunities available in regional and rural Australia. We make young people aware of the wide range of rewarding careers across industries including agriculture, health care, education, environmental management, business, technology, mining trades, community services and many other sectors. Through real-life examples and career insights, we demonstrate how regional and rural careers can offer meaningful work, professional growth and the opportunity to make a lasting impact in regional and rural communities. We also make urban youth aware of rural life and it's benefits like affordable housing, close-knit communities, and healthier living closer to nature.
Tour: Exploring
Following our information sessions, interested young people are invited to participate in a three-day tour designed to provide a first hand experience of living and working in regional and rural Australia. Participants visit farms, contribute to meaningful volunteer projects, take part in interactive workshops, learn from industry professionals and connect with education and training providers.
Through these experiences, participants gain a deeper understanding of the vital role regional and rural industries and communities play in supporting Australia's economy, food security, and long-term prosperity.
Try: Work Experience
One of the biggest challenges facing young people from the cities is accessing meaningful work experience opportunities in regional and rural Australia. At Regional and Rural Careers we address this challenge by coordinating a week long program of hands-on work placements allowing students to explore careers of interest within a single regional community. We manage all aspects of the program including transportation, accommodation, supervision, participant support and compliance with legal and safety requirements.
These work experience placements provide young people with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in regional and rural life while gaining valuable industry exposure. Most importantly, the program helps bridge the gap between city and country by fostering meaningful connections, breaking down barriers and building confidence in new environments.
